Dustin Poirier got a retirement gift following his fifth-straight UFC title fight loss.
Poirier’s retirement fight was one for the books, as he and Max Holloway delivered one of the best fights of the year at UFC 318 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Up 2-0 against Holloway previously, Poirier lost their trilogy bout by unanimous decision after five rounds of action.
The 36-year-old Poirier fell short of becoming the undisputed lightweight champion on three separate occasions, losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev. He also lost to Justin Gaethje in a BMF title fight in 2023, making him 1-5 in title fights overall.
‘The Diamond’ now owns two belts following his retirement, the interim title he won against Holloway in 2019 and the DIY belt his daughter made for him.
Dustin Poirier shows off ‘Best Dad Ever’ belt from his daughter
Poirier returned to his family in Lafayette, Louisiana on Monday, with his daughter, Parker, happy to have him home.
On Monday, Poirier shared that Parker gave him a UFC-esque belt made out of cardboard reading ‘Best Dad Ever’.
“She said you didn’t get the BMF belt,” Poirier said on the Ariel Helwani Show.
“And, also, she hates curse words and stuff like that. So, she didn’t like the BMF belt, but she gave me this one. She made this for me.”

“Where the BMF belt was gonna go, I got this bad boy,” Poirier added.
“This is a one of one right here. Best dad ever belt. I’m proud of this one, man. Life is good.”
Dustin Poirier gets new skin in UFC 5
Days after his retirement, EA Sports UFC 5 announced this version of Poirier will be an unlockable skin or ‘Alter Ego’ in-game.
In honor of Poirier’s final fight, the video game developers will be releasing a UFC 318 Alter Ego for Poirier, free of charge.
“His stats reflecting his UFC 318 performance will be updated in our next set of stat updates,” the developer wrote on X.
Poirier’s in-game stats and skill rating could potentially go down as the 36-year-old was almost finished in the first round and was beaten by Holloway pretty decisively.
