IG Drones has now evolved into IG Defence, growing from a startup focused solely on unmanned aerial vehicles founded in 2018 into a full-spectrum defence technology company.
This transition reflects a simple but serious mission to build sovereign, reliable and battle-ready defence systems for India’s future, the Noida-headquartered company remarked in a statement on Monday.
Operational record
The company’s systems were deployed in Operation Sindoor. Besides that, IG Drone’s anti-drone technology has been inducted by the Army and other armed forces, and BLE technology is with the Air Force.
Now it’s focus spans land, sea, air, and space platforms, including integrated border systems, naval autonomy, aviation technologies, and space-based surveillance, said company officials.
Alongside platforms, we are also building indigenous sensors, secure battlefield communications, AI-enabled command systems, electronic warfare, and cyber defence capabilities, they added.
Expansion plans
Speaking on the expansion plan, Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, Founder and CEO of IG Defence, said: IG Defence represents a deeper sense of responsibility as India is entering an era where wars will be shaped by intelligence, autonomy and integration across domains.
“Our focus is to build dependable, world class defence systems that are designed and manufactured in India and reduce long term dependency. The guidance of leaders who have spent their lives in service of the nation gives us clarity, discipline and direction as we build for the future,” he stated
Senior appointments
To support this expanded mission, IG Defence has brought some of the military leaders into its senior leadership.
Lt. General Anil Kumar Samantara (Retd), a former Director General of Infantry, has come on board to steer IG Defence’s land systems and mission-critical platforms. Likewise, Lt. General Anil Chait (Retd), former Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, has joined to lend his experience in joint operations, integrated theatre planning, and national-level crisis management, according to the company.
Air Commodore Rajendra N. Gaekwad (Retd), a former fighter pilot with the Indian Air Force, will offer insights into IG Defence’s aviation and autonomous systems programmes.
While unmanned systems remain important, our focus has expanded to building technologies across land, sea, air, and space domains, Sanghapriya added.
