‘Incredibly Stupid’ — NBA Fans Enraged As Warriors Reject Trade Offer for Jonathan Kuminga Involving Future First-Round Pick

NBA fans are letting the Golden State Warriors hear it. The organization is facing sharp criticism after a report revealed it rejected a trade offer for Jonathan Kuminga from the Sacramento Kings that included Malik Monk and a future first-round pick.

With Kuminga and the Warriors still far apart on a contract extension, the decision has left many fans questioning the team’s direction.

Why Did the Warriors Reject the Kings’ Offer for Jonathan Kuminga?

The Sacramento Kings were reportedly one of the teams interested in acquiring Kuminga, but a deal has not materialized. This development comes as the forward and the Golden State Warriors have yet to agree on a contract extension, with talks ongoing.

NBA insiders Shams Charania and Anthony Slater recently revealed the details of the discussions between the Kings and the Warriors regarding Kuminga.

“The Warriors had shut down sign-and-trades, steadfast all offseason in declining frameworks of Royce O’Neale and second-round compensation from the Phoenix Suns or Malik Monk and a future first-round pick from the Sacramento Kings, sources said,” the report stated.

Fans’ reaction was immediate and harsh. “That is incredibly stupid. Monk is the better player,” one fan said. Another tweet read, “What are you doing, Mike Dunleavy?!”

Other fans suggested the Warriors were the ones holding up the process. “AND PEOPLE THOUGHT THE KINGS WERE DELUSIONAL 🤣🤣🤣 It’s always been the Warriors prolonging this situation. They messing up Steph’s last years,” one said.

Another fan seconded this sentiment and urged Stephen Curry to leave the team. “Steph might have to leave… they are not focused on winning; they are focused on selfishness.”

In addition to the Kings’ proposal, Golden State has also not considered other sign-and-trade offers for Kuminga from teams like the Phoenix Suns. While the framework involving Monk has been discussed, a deal appears unlikely at this stage.

Charania and Slater’s report also shed light on the Warriors’ latest contract offer to Kuminga. Golden State reportedly increased its offer from a two-year, $45 million deal to a three-year, $75 million contract, though the new proposal includes a team option. According to the report, Kuminga’s camp seeks an annual salary of $30 million.

While a compromise has not yet been reached, the Warriors hope their star trio of Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green can lead the team to a championship in the upcoming season. However, it remains to be seen if Kuminga will be part of their plans as the stalemate continues.
