Hi and welcome to the live build-up for the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup final in Dubai.

Force stop in the play

We are not sure why, but the play has been stopped in the field.

The broadcaster has cut straight to the ads, so we are not exactly sure what the issues is. But it seems like one of the lights has failed in the stadium.

Controversy: Out or not out?

Big wicket for Pakistan. Absolutely nothing shot from Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan have a sliver of hope in the game.

Length ball, Suryakumar Yadav wants to go over mid off but does not get any timing on it. The ball is dipping into the ground while going to Salman Agha at mid off, who rushes forward and takes a diving catch.

There is a long check from the umpire about the catch, and if it dropped short.

The third umpire takes his time and gives it an out!

The Dubai stadium is screaming Shaheen Shaheen!!

Live Score: India (11/2 in 2.5 overs) chasing 147 runs vs Pakistan in Asia Cup Final. Suryakumar Yadav (1), Shubman Gill (4*).

How did Abhishek Sharma get out?

By a well hidden off cutter from Faheem Ashraf in the 2nd over.

Sunil Gavaskar criticises Abhishek

Sunil Gavaskar criticises Abhishek Sharma for his shot in the second over. Gavaskar says that there was no need to go after that ball at all.

We in the newsroom perhaps differ from Mr. Gavaskar.

In the modern T20 game, there is no point playing tentatively. India have a very deep batting line-up and the in form batter had all the right to go for that shot. It is unfortunate that he got out. And it is true that the execution was wrong, but nothing wrong with the intent from an in-form Abhishek Sharma.

Abhishek falls in the 1st ball of 2nd over!

WICKET!!

Abhishek Sharma falls! The law of averages perhaps catches up to the young left hander.

Pakistan strike and this is perhaps what they needed. A wicket of the dangerman early in the innings.

Slower ball going away from over the wicket. Abhishek slices the ball high up in the sky and gets caught at long on.

Live Score: India (7/1 in 1.1 overs) chasing 147 runs vs Pakistan in Asia Cup Final. Abhishek Sharma (5), Shubman Gill (2*).

India vs Pakistan Live: Abhishek Sharma off the mark with a boundary

Abhishek Sharma misses the first ball against Shaheen Afridi as he tries to whack him straight down the ground for a boundary. However, he skilfully guides it through the off side for a boundary to get off the mark.

IND vs PAK: Ravi Shastri hails Kuldeep Yadav

“Harakiri is the right word when you blow it away in that fashion. Yes, Kuldeep Yadav bowled well, and credit to him because Pakistan was under pressure early on. He has shown great maturity, which is where he has improved over the years. That’s why he’s at the peak of his progress. Despite being expensive in those two overs, he had the temperament to fight back and take those crucial wickets,” said Ravi Shastri on Sony Sports.

Asia Cup Live: Ravi Shastri wants Indian openers to score 50

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has said that at least one Indian opener needs to score a half-century to make it easy for the rest of the batters. The 1983 World Cup winner predicted India’s powerplay score to be between 65-70.

Asia Cup final live: How should India approach this chase?

India have to remain positive. Yes, sub-par totals can be tricky to chase. If Abhishek Sharma bats in the middle for six overs, Pakistan are all but done.

Pakistan will want Shaheen Shah Afridi to strike and get the wicket of Abhishek. Pakistan need to believe if they are to trouble India.

But, after that horror batting show, the chips must be down.

“To lift this team from here, it’s the hardest thing right now,” says Waqar Younis, on air.

Our man, Rishabh Beniwal is backing India to chase this down in 16 overs.

Kingshuk Kusari says 15.

What do you think?

IND vs PAK Live: Pakistan need to attack with new ball

“Pakistan need to get 2-3 early wickets upfront as India’s middle order is quite shaky. However, the hardest job would be to lift the team’s spirit after the horrible collapse,” said Waqar.

IND vs PAK: Waqar Younis blasts Pakistan

Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis has gone after Pakistan batters after their horrible collapse in the Asia Cup final. Younis questioned the Pakistan captain Salman Agha for playing a ‘horrible shot’. He said that Pakistan won’t be able to recover from their collapse.

“Over the years, I’ve seen so much T20 cricket, but I’ve never seen anything like that. At one stage, Pakistan were so controlled and trendless—I couldn’t understand what they were trying to do. Even if they played along the ground and just looked for a big shot in the last 2 or 3 overs, they could have easily scored 175 or 180. But instead, everyone was trying to hit out of the park. I don’t know what they were aiming for—maybe they thought they needed 200 or more. This is the final, and honestly, the cricket Pakistan played was horrible. I don’t even have words to describe it. As we said, it’s not over yet, but in that dressing room right now, everything is probably sinking, including the morale. I’m not sure how Salman Aliaga will lift them, especially since he also played a really poor shot. So, I’m not sure how they’re going to pick themselves up to win this game,” said Waqar on Sony Sports.

Asia Cup Final: Who was India’s best bowler?

Every Indian bowler, barring Shivam Dube had a poor start, but all of them made a tremendous comeback after the 10-over break.

As Pakistan lost their bearings, the Indian spinners held their nerves.

Kuldeep Yadav was undoubtedly the pick among the bowlers.

Pakistan’s scorecard is like a phone number after the top 3.

All Out!!! Pakistan fold for 146 runs!

Pakistan have been bowled out for just 146 runs.

They were 113/1 at one point in time, and they have let things slip horribly today.

Extremely poor standards of cricket as they play horrible shots and fold for a below-par target!

What a disaster!

Kuldeep’s 3 wickets in the 17th over

16.1: Kuldeep Yadav to Salman Agha, OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! A well-judged catch from Sanju Samson and the slide continues for Pakistan! Looped up by Kuldeep from over the wicket, on a length, on middle and leg. Salman is lured by the flight and cannot resist himself. Charges down the track and has a heave across the line. A top edge is found and the ball gets skied towards the short mid-wicket region. The keeper, Sanju Samson, calls for it and runs across to his left. He has the short mid-wicket fielder, Jasprit Bumrah, in his peripheral vision but Samson is not put off by it. Sanju dives in front at the end to take the catch. Salman Agha’s lean run with the bat continues and he departs for 8 (7). 113/1 has now become 133/6.

16.4: Kuldeep Yadav to Shaheen Afridi, OUT! LBW! India get the review right this time and Shaheen Afridi goes without troubling the scorers! The googly eventually does the trick for Kuldeep Yadav. This is on a nagging length, landing around the off stump and spinning back in towards the left-hander. Afridi expects the line to be outside off and therefore, he shuffles across the stumps. Shaheen gets down on a knee and has a hack across the line. Gets beaten on the inside edge to get hit on the front pad. The UltraEdge confirms no bat and the Ball Tracking shows three reds with the ball crashing into the leg stump.

16.6: Kuldeep Yadav to Faheem Ashraf, OUT! CAUGHT! Uninspiring display of batting continues from Pakistan! Third wicket in the over for Kuldeep Yadav. Pakistan have fallen away dramatically from 113/1 and they are now 134/8, losing 7 wickets for 23 runs. Kuldeep hangs it up there, full and outside off. Faheem cannot resist himself and swings to go down the ground. Fails to get under the ball properly to get the desired elevation. Hits it flat towards long off where Tilak Varma runs in a bit off the ropes and takes a safe catch at chest height.

WICKET!! Triple-strike for Kuldeep

What an absolute collapse in Dubai!

From 113/1 Pakistan have been reduced to 134/8 !! My days.

Pakistan have batted like school children and that is reflecting in their scorecard.

Kuldeep Yadav has struck thrice in the 17th over.

A disaster for Pakistan and the Indian fans have come alive in Dubai.

Horrible Pakistan collapse in middle overs

Pakistan have collapsed. After a solid start, they have lost three batters for single digit scores.

Right after Hussain Talat’s wicket Salman Agha gets out in similar fashion. A wild slog from the batter and the ball goes high up in the night sky. Samson rushes down to short mid wicket and catches the ball with a stunning dive.

So after the 84 run partnership for first wicket. Pakistan have been:

  • Saim Ayub: 14
  • Mohammad Haris: 0
  • Salman Agha: 8
  • Hussain Talat: 1

Live Score: Pakistan (134/6 in 16.3 overs) vs India in Asia Cup Final. Shaheen Afridi (0*), Mohammad Nawaz (1*).
