A’ja Wilson is expected to lace up against the Seattle Storm for Game 2 of their first-round playoff series on Tuesday. The dominant big was instrumental in the Aces drawing first blood with an easy 102-77 win.
Wilson led the side with a game-high 29 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two blocks as the Storm struggled on both ends of the floor. Her availability will be a major boost for the Aces as they look to make it a 2-0 series and extend their run.
Healthy A’ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces Hope To Make It Two-in-Two vs. Seattle Storm
Las Vegas will enter Game 2 with a clean injury report. All players are available to play, and that suggests that Wilson will almost certainly suit up barring any last-minute setbacks to her non-shooting wrist.
On her part, Wilson stressed that the Aces need to build on the momentum. “This is now the time when we have to be perfect. And we know that for us and the way that people play us, we have to bring our A Game every single time,” she said when speaking to the media postgame.
“She [coach Becky Hammon] really sets the tone, and it trickles down to me. Then we go into the locker room and we make sure everyone is on the same page.”
Wilson and the Aces came into the playoffs on the back of a stellar 16-game win streak. However, the two-time WNBA champion was looked at as a thing of the past. “You guys celebrate this more than we do. The streak stopped in the regular season,” she added.
The Aces superstar is also in the hunt for her fourth MVP this season, alongside Minnesota Lynx mainstay Napheesa Collier. The latter’s scintillating run saw the Lynx end their regular season as the top seed with a brilliant 34-10 record.

Wilson ended her regular season averaging 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.6 steals, and 2.3 blocks. She shot 50.5% from the field, 42.4% from the 3-point line, and 85.5% from the free throw line.
Wilson has been a force for Las Vegas on both ends of the floor. Her relentless offense and defensive prowess were key as the Aces shrugged off their wobbly start to end with a 30-14 record and clinch the second seed. They will be looking at winning their third title in four years, and much depends on Wilson to see if they can end their season with another trophy in the cabinet.
