Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson has been a key part of his team’s offense on Christmas Day against the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md.
Ferguson made a juggling catch in the end zone off a pass from quarterback Dak Prescott to put the Cowboys up early. Unfortunately, the tight end later suffered an injury.

It was certainly curious as to why Ferguson didn’t play a single snap on the Cowboys’ two-minute drill to close out the first half. Unfortunately, this game is the Grinch that keeps on stealing.
There is nothing more devastating for fantasy managers than losing a player early in a game. With Ferguson gone, fantasy managers will have to take solace in the fact that he scored on his only reception before departing. Luke Schoonmaker will be the primary receiving tight end for the remainder of the game.

According to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, the Cowboys’ offense has an impact score of 85.6 and grades out to a B. On the season entering Thursday’s game, Ferguson had 80 catches for 589 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 7.4 yards per catch.
Ferguson was a fourth-round draft pick out of Wisconsin by the Cowboys in the 2022 NFL Draft. He has tried his best to help the Cowboys finish strong after they were eliminated last week from NFL postseason play, but unfortunately, he got hurt.
At one time, Dallas held a 24-10 lead over the Commanders. But Washington running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt motored downfield on a 72-yard touchdown run, making the score now 24-17 Dallas late in the third quarter. Brandon Aubrey’s field goal, though, put the Cowboys back up 27-17.
With Schoonmaker now playing at tight end, Prescott will have to target him when running out of the pocket or making a dump-off pass. Ferguson’s absence will be felt as the game progresses into the fourth quarter. Dallas hopes to beat its longtime rival on Christmas Day.
