Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love is turning steady buzz into serious draft momentum. His week-to-week surge has not only caught the attention of scouts but has also drawn a powerful comparison to one of the NFL’s most productive backs.
With his recent numbers backing up that lofty comparison, the stakes for what happens next have never been higher.
How Does Jeremiyah Love’s Versatility Mirror an NFL Great?
Ahman Green’s NFL career sets a demanding bar for any young running back. The four-time Pro Bowler, who was born in Omaha, Nebraska, played at Nebraska before the Seattle Seahawks drafted him in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft.
Across 148 games, Green handled 2,056 rushes for 9,205 yards, averaging 4.5 yards per carry and scoring 60 touchdowns. That consistent blend of power, vision, and reliability is now framing the conversation around Love’s potential.
PFSN’s Ian Cummings spelled out the similarities in a recent analysis. “From a mobility profile standpoint, this was a comparison that caught my eye preseason, and now that Jeremiyah Love has bulked up to 214 pounds, it’s one I’m drawn to even more. Love’s trademark trait is his unmatched dynamism. He has an enthralling blend of explosiveness, twitch, agility, and cutting flexibility, but he also has the physicality and leg churn to drive through tackles, and he flashes legitimate upside as a receiver.”
Cummings also added, “Runners with Love’s lean, compact mass usually don’t have that strong of a through-contact game or that domineering of a physical temperament, but Green was one such exception. Green could just as soon bounce off solo tackles as he could house one-cut plays. Love fits that stylistic framework to a tee, and he could have a similar NFL impact.”
Love’s recent form certainly supports that projection. Against Arkansas, he scored four first-half touchdowns, two rushing and two receiving, while Notre Dame rolled to 420 first-half yards and six straight touchdown drives. In that opening half alone, he produced 126 total yards on just 14 touches, breaking tackles repeatedly.
Four total touchdowns and 126 total yards in first half for Jeremiyah Love 😳

That explosive performance followed a career-high 157 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the win over Purdue. Following that game, Notre Dame expanded its usage by featuring him more in the passing game. His 34-yard throwback screen for a score at Arkansas showed just how dangerous he is in space with blockers out in front.
When asked about the recent change, Love kept it simple. “I would just say the only thing different is more touches.” With his volume rising and his production peaking, the Ahman Green comparison is adding serious context to his ascendant draft stock.
