JT knew exactly who to call when she needed someone to have her back in a major way.
The Miami rapper participated in ELLE’s latest episode of Phoning It In, a series that sees celebrities prank calling various people in their phone book. When the prompt was to “say you’re about to go to jail because your niece shoplifted,” JT decided to have a bit of fun with her partner, Lil Uzi Vert.
“My hands are sweating, I can’t play with this man. He might be playful but, he’s not,” she said as she nervously dialed their number. When the Eternal Atake artist answered the phone, JT said her niece Mimi stole something out of Lululemon and now she’s being sent to jail for “child neglect.”
Uzi immediately entered solution mode. “For real? So what do I gotta do?” they said in a relatively calm voice. The former City Girl replied, “You’re probably going to have to bail me out because I don’t think they’re going to let me go at all.” Uzi swiftly said, “Alright,” and didn’t back out even after JT said the amount would be $50,000.
After providing confusing directions about which exact store she was at, and Uzi telling the person they were with that they had to go to “the Lululemon store on Broadway,” JT eventually told her BF it was a prank. As quick as Uzi answered, they immediately hung up.
Fans had split reactions in the comments, as some people felt Uzi did not show enough concern while others praised the Philly rapper for being a problem solver. “Why he seem like he don’t care lol?” one of the top-liked comments read, as another person wrote, “He immediately found a solution. What more do y’all want from him!”
Elsewhere in the segment, JT also got her revenge for when Kali Uchis pranked her in May. Back then, Uchis pretended that a gossip column was reporting that JT’s lyrics from their collab “Muñekita” were AI-generated. In the new episode, JT got her lick back by telling Kali someone was about to sue her for stealing the concept for her latest album, Sincerely. Watch both moments above.
