Kabir Singh of music: Amaal Mallik says ‘I would have threatened…’ as he speaks about his behaviour ahead of ‘Bigg Boss 19’ finale

General

As Bigg Boss 19 enters its finale week, composer Amaal Mallik has once again become the centre of discussion, not just inside the house but also in the media room. During a heated press conference, the musician faced pointed questions about everything—from calling his father Daboo Malik a failure to accusations of threatening co-contestants, and even claims that he was “obsessed” with Tanya Mittal. He addressed each issue directly, insisting that the strong reactions seen on the show are a reflection of who he has always been.

General ‘This is genuinely how I am’: Amaal on his nature

Amaal told SCREEN that the tense moments captured on camera were not exaggerated for television. He explained that intense environments do trigger immediate reactions, but added that he has always been this way even off the show. He said that if someone provoked him outside the Bigg Boss house, he would respond just as sharply, regardless of who the person was. Amaal said, “I would have threatened someone outside also if they poked me; it didn’t matter how big or small that person was, I would give it back.”

He shared that he had even told his family they were free to distance themselves if they ever felt that his words or behaviour harmed them or the Malik family name. He acknowledged that people often call him the “Kabir Singh of music” and pointed out that when someone searches his name online, controversies tend to appear before his music. According to him, this is because he has taken firm stands in the industry for years, and while he follows his instincts, he accepts that the audience ultimately decides whether they appreciate him or not.

General Clarifying his remarks about father Daboo Malik

During the press conference, Amaal was questioned about labelling his father a failure on national television. He clarified, as per SCREEN, that he meant there is nothing shameful about failure. He said that his father’s setbacks shaped his own ambition and hunger to work harder.

He also addressed the misconception that the Malik surname guarantees easy access in the music industry. According to him, people often assume success comes on a platter, and his statement was meant to underline that his journey had not been effortless.

General Responding to claims of being ‘obsessed’ with Tanya Mittal

Amaal also spoke about his strained friendship with fellow contestant Tanya Mittal, which sparked discussions both inside the house and outside. He dismissed claims of obsession, saying he interacted with her out of basic decency, not fixation. Amaal mentioned that someone on the show had suggested he looked overly involved, but he maintained that he simply does not cut people off quickly, whether they are friends or opponents.

He explained that he tended to push for the truth during arguments, a habit he now claims to have toned down. He firmly stated that he was not obsessed with Tanya and that his name and career were already established long before the show.

The fiery press conference also marked the beginning of the finale week. The Bigg Boss 19 grand finale will stream on 7 December at 9 pm on Jio Hotstar, with the Colors TV telecast later in the night.
