Kaiju No. 8 The Game hits 500k pre-reg milestone and unveils new character PV
  • Kaiju No. 8 The Game has surpassed 500k pre-registrations
  • It’s also unveiled a new gacha image and preview video for fan-favourite Gen Arumi
  • There’s new pre-reg rewards already slated with top additional characters

With the recent shelving of ARPG Tribe Nine, you might be forgiven for wondering what developer Akatsuki Games has up their sleeve with such a massive closure. Well, if the news around Kaiju No. 8 is any indication, their upcoming adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga series could be their next big success.

Having hit over 500k pre-registrations already, Kaiju No. 8 The Game adapts the Shonen Jump series. Set in a world plagued by giant monsters, Japan’s Defence Force battles to safeguard the populace. But when an unassuming member of one of the Defence Force finds he has the ability to transform into one of these titular Kaiju, things take a turn.

As you might expect, Kaiju No. 8 The Game is slated to follow the story of the main series, with the occasional change such as new characters. But fans of the existing series roster will be pleased to see a brand-new illustration of First Division captain Gen Arumi added to the lineup, alongside his own preview video!

But, of course, there’s also the more important news of what exactly you’re getting with the latest milestone rewards. Well, we’ve already got the four-star [Aiming for Greater Heights] Mina Ashiro set for distribution at launch, but the next milestone (available at 850k pre-registrations) has also been unlocked with the four-star [Blade Specialist] Soshiro Hoshina.

With the original voice cast returning and true-to-the-series artwork, it’s a given that fans of Kaiju No. 8 will be interested in this upcoming release. But will it hold up to the appetites of the wider gaming public? We’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, while the term gacha has become a dirty word to some, there’s still plenty of great examples out there. So if you’re willing to see whether or not they can break that stigma, dive into our lists of the top 25 best gacha games for iOS and Android!
