Keigo Shinzo’s Hirayasumi Manga Inspires Anime, VIZ Co-Produces

Hirayasumi

An anime adaptation has been announced for Keigo Shinzo’s Hirayasumi manga, with VIZ Media co-producing alongside Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions Co., Ltd. Details are light beyond that, but Production +h.—which previously worked on The Orbital Children and Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction—has been announced as the animation production house for the anime.

There’s also a live-action Hirayasumi series in the works. Keigo Shinzo shared a celebratory illustration, commenting, “I’m so happy to hear it’s being adapted into an anime and a drama! I’m really looking forward to seeing both shows!”

The Hirayasumi manga first started its run in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits magazine in April 2021, and later this month the ninth collected volume will launch. VIZ Media publishes the slice-of-life manga in English and sums up the story like so:

Hirayasumi Plot

At 29 years old, carefree Hiroto Ikuta doesn’t have a girlfriend, a full-time job, or a plan for the future—and he couldn’t be happier. Hiroto’s breezy attitude isn’t easy for everyone to understand, though. In a world filled with anxiety, confusion, and grief, Hiroto and the people around him are all just doing their best to figure out this thing called life.
