Manny Pacquiao’s comeback date changes again – but he’s still chasing the same world champ opponent

Manny Pacquiao’s return to the ring has been pushed back for a second time.

The former eight-weight world champion was supposed to headline a card on December 6.

Manny Pacquiao announced a new fight date after that one was snatched by the man who almost beat Gervonta Davis in May, Lamont Roach Jr, who fought Isaac Cruz to a majority draw this past weekend.

January 24 was the new target date, but the Filipino boxing legend’s manager has now claimed his star client is no longer set to compete on the same day as UFC 324.

Manny Pacquiao’s next fight

Right now, the plan is for Manny Pacquiao to fight Rolly Romero for the WBA welterweight belt

The aim is for Pacquiao to break his own record by winning a 147lb world title at 47 years old.

“There’s discussions for March,” Sean Gibbons recently told Fight Hype.

“Rolly asked the WBA for an exception, so there’s ongoing conversations for that fight.

“That’s at welterweight. Manny would love to better his record that he made at 40 years old, beating Keith Thurman to be the oldest welterweight champion.

“So, if we could fight Rolly, that would be great.”

Manny Pacquiao is also exploring a Floyd Mayweather rematch

If a world title fight doesn’t happen, Manny Pacquiao will settle for facing Floyd Mayweather again.

Together, the boxing icons sold 4.4 million pay-per-views and generated $410 million in revenue when they headlined the highest-grossing PPV of all time in May 2015.

10 years later, a Netflix rematch of the biggest boxing bout of all time is being ‘seriously discussed.’

Mayweather has signed a deal to fight heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson in 2026.

It seems like Pacquiao vs Romero will happen in March, and then he’ll revisit his rivalry with the 50-0 superstar.
