As soon as she realized everything, she asked for a trade, and it seems to be one of the better decisions for her as she ended up in the perfect spot. Now, she’s going to play the Finals with her fiancée, possibly as starters. While it all seems messy, it could’ve been different too.

It’s because the Cinderella run could’ve been avoided if the vet had joined hands earlier. No, we aren’t saying this—but Mercury HC admitted it himself in the pregame conference. “Luckily, the last two off seasons, we’ve tried to get DV to come back to Phoenix. And so we’ve been able to build a relationship a little bit. Unfortunately, she didn’t pick us twice. Third time is a charm. I think AT helped in that a little bit,” the coach shared.
After 10 seasons in Phoenix, Bonner’s comeback carried weight far beyond nostalgia—it delivered results. “It amazes me when I relisten to the games and like all the things that she’s done in the playoffs… it’s one of the greatest playoff players ever,” the HC added, pointing to her clutch Game 4 against Minnesota.
