A Fatality Milestone for Mortal Kombat 1
EVO wrapped up earlier this month, but NetherRealm Studios kept the excitement going with fresh updates for Mortal Kombat 1. Series co-creator Ed Boon revealed that the game has now sold over 6.2 million copies, a sharp rise from the five million milestone reached earlier this year.
Alongside the sales news, NetherRealm rolled out a substantial balance patch that fine-tunes a wide range of fighters. Core roster characters such as Havik, Kenshi, Li Mei, Liu Kang, Rain, Reptile, and Shang Tsung have all received adjustments. Even recent DLC additions, including Omni-Man, Ermac, Conan the Barbarian, and Homelander, have seen tweaks aimed at improving gameplay balance.
The update also touches on the Kameo Fighters system, making changes to support characters like Frost, Darrius, Jax, Goro, Stryker, Sektor, Sub-Zero, Mavado, Tremor, and others. These adjustments aim to refine how assist characters impact matches, ensuring competitive play feels fair and varied.

Mortal Kombat 1 is currently available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Back in May, NetherRealm confirmed that the title will not receive additional story expansions or new characters, as the studio shifts focus to its next major project, widely speculated to be Injustice 3.
With impressive sales numbers and a renewed focus on competitive balance, Mortal Kombat 1 continues to evolve, offering fans fresh reasons to return to the fight.
