Umar Ansari, son of Mukhtar Ansari, faces arrest. He allegedly submitted fake documents in court. The aim was to reclaim his father’s seized properties. These properties were seized under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters Act. Afshan Ansari, Umar’s mother, is absconding. She has a reward on her head. Umar’s brother, Abbas Ansari, previously faced jail time and disqualification from the Assembly.

Umar Ansari, son of late gangster-turned politician Mukhtar Ansari, was arrested for allegedly submitting forged documents in court in order to recover his father’s properties on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Superintendent of Police, Ghazipur, the properties were seized under provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters Act.
A petition was filed seeking the release of properties belonging to the then jailed gangster who had died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda in March this year.
Umar Ansari has been alleged of intending to secure illegal gains by submitting forged documents reportedly bearing the fake signatures of his mother, Afshan Ansari, in the court, the statement said.
Afshan Ansari is currently absconding and carries a reward of Rs 50,000 on her head.
“Upon learning of the fraudulent activity, a case was registered against Umar Ansari at the Mohammadabad police station, with charges filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),” read the statement.
According to police sources, a team of Ghazipur police arrested Umar Ansari from Lucknow.
Cases against Umar Ansari
Upon learning about the forged documents, police registered an FIR number Muhammadabad Police Station in Ghazipur. The charges against Umar fall under sections 319(2), 318(4), 338, 336(3), and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Senior police officers confirmed his custody and said that further investigation and action is underway. This is the sixth case lodged against Umar Ansari. The past five cases include charges of cheating, forgery, damage to public property, and violation of the poll code during the Vidhan Sabha elections of 2022.
Meanwhile, his elder brother Abbas Ansari was sentenced to two years in jail in a three-year-old case related to a controversial speech in which he allegedly threatened government officials on May 31.
However he got bail by the court later. Abbas was later disqualified from the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
Abbas, was elected MLA on a Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) ticket and made the remarks at a public meeting during the 2022 Assembly election period.
He has eight other cases in his name. He was caught red-handed with his wife in Chitrakoot jail, where police recovered foreign currency.
