Even when Aaron Rodgers’ going to the Pittsburgh Steelers wasn’t a done deal, the possibility of the four-time MVP facing his former team, the Green Bay Packers, made football fans across the country circle their Week 8 clash on the calendar.
The day is finally upon us, and it promises to be an emotionally charged clash between the two sides. Even though the record reads 4-1-1, the Packers have failed to truly impress beyond a riveting 2-0 start. Since then, a disappointing loss to the Cleveland Browns, a brutal tie with the Dallas Cowboys, and subpar performances have underlined their season.
But even with an uneven start, the team is dominating virtually every metric imaginable. Top-five on PFSN’s Offense Impact and top-10 in PFSN’s Defense Impact, the team has all the makings of a contender.
They might want to start to put together complete outings in the second half of the season as they ramp up for a potentially deep playoff run. A clash against their former superstar, who won four MVPs wearing their colors, could be just the night to turn a corner on the season.

Coming off a brutally disappointing loss to the Cincinnati Bengals is probably not how the Steelers anticipated entering one of the biggest games of the season. But, at 4-2, they still have a firm hold of the first seed in the AFC North.
The game against the Packers offers them a chance to get things back on the right track. So far, the biggest disappointment for the team has been the defense. Typically a staple of a Mike Tomlin-led team, this year’s Steelers haven’t had the same level of success.
Currently ranked as a bottom-10 unit on PFSN’s Defense Impact, they have made their living on sacks (22) and interceptions (five). With a charged atmosphere at Acrisure Stadium, the game against Green Bay should offer them a golden chance to finally get things back on track.
