Bhopal-born, Mumbai-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter pairs rock ‘n roll mayhem with kathak dancers for his latest release
Mumbai-based, Bhopal-origin artist Ritvik Virmani turns up the heat with a fist-tight rock song “Jetpack Joyride,” which comes with an action-packed music video he’s directed, with cinematography by Ujjwal Singh Rajput.
Virmani, who previously released a cheery, arena-ready song “Ecstasy” earlier this year, takes to more gritty, high-energy rock with “Jetpack Joyride.” The song features guitars and bass by Shantanu Rojatkar and drummer Sarthak Kayastha, with production, mixing and mastering by Hansraj Shankushal.
The artist says in a statement, “This track is about letting go, about those moments when you know something might be wrong, but you dive in anyway because that’s what makes you feel alive. I wanted Jetpack Joyride to sound like danger, excitement and freedom colliding. Bad decisions never sounded this good.”
In the video directed by Virmani, tensions from a poker game spill over into gangster action, even as Virmani, his band and Kathak dancers perform in a laser and smoke-filled club. There’s confusion, temptation and riffs to boot, reflecting “the adrenaline of late nights and reckless choices,” the artist says. He adds, “It’s unapologetic, fiery and made for anyone who understands the thrill of living on the edge.”
