Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake

General

The highly anticipated remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is reportedly targeting a January 2026 release, according to Gamerant. Originally revealed in 2020, the project faced fan backlash over its initial visuals, which many felt didn’t meet expectations. The remake was initially developed at Ubisoft’s Mumbai and Pune studios but was later shifted to Ubisoft Montreal in 2022 to refine the game ahead of launch.

This modern reimagining of the 2003 classic has been in development for several years, with Ubisoft aiming to deliver a polished experience for longtime fans. A brief glimpse during last year’s marketing cycle was a fleeting light, but Ubisoft reiterated in its May 2025 earnings report that the game is still on track for release within the current fiscal year, which concludes in March 2026.

In short, five years after its initial announcement, the Sands of Time remake finally has a tentative release window. If there are no further delays, the game is expected to launch between January 1 and March 31 next year. However, since development shifted to Ubisoft Montreal, no gameplay footage has been released.

According to EuroGamer, Ubisoft may be reserving a major reveal for December’s Game Awards. Only time will tell, but fans are hoping the upcoming unveiling will be far more impressive than the brief 30-second glimpse shown last year.
