With a view to helping Adivasi farmers in improving their incomes, the Andhra Pradesh Government has announced plans to set up an exclusive facility at Makavarapalem in Anakapalle district. The facility, which will be set up on 250 acres, will include common processing facilities to help entrepreneurs process produce from Adivasi farmers and add value to it.“This facility will focus on processing organic produce grown by the adivasi farmers. This will later be developed into a Food Park,” Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said.
He directed the district collectors to ensure that these products get access to different markets. Tribal Welfare Minister G Sandhya Rani recently announced that the Integrated Coffee Processing Unit to be set up at Makavarapalem will promote the processing of organic coffee from the Agency area. “It will promote products that range from bean to cup, adding significant value to the coffee produced by the Adivasi farmers,” she said.
