Roger Binny is no longer the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as he reportedly stepped down from the post on Friday. Rajeev Shukla has taken over as the acting chief of the world’s richest cricket board until the election of the next head.

As per a report by news agency PTI, Binny may continue as BCCI president, turning 70, as the latest National Sports Governance Bill 2025 raised the age cap to 75 for all National State Federations. However, a report by Dainik Jagran suggests that Roger Binny has stepped down from the post, and vice-president Rajeev Shukla replaced him temporarily.

Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian cricket board has been facing several challenges, including finding a new sponsor for Team India’s jerseys. On Thursday, a meeting was chaired by Rajeev Shukla and one of the main agendas of it was the termination of the sponsorship deal with Dream11 and to find a new sponsor for the team’s jersey ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, starting September 9.

”So we cannot continue with them and therefore trying to find some alternatives, and that process is now ongoing. The vacant position of the sponsor is something that we are trying to fill, and till now nothing has been completed. Once something happens, we will let you know with a media advisory,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said.

As per a report by Dainik Jagran, a BCCI source said, ”We don’t even have two weeks left. We are trying, but floating a new tender, completing legal processes, and handling technicalities will take time. As for a short-term sponsor only for the Asia Cup, we are not going that way. Our focus is on securing a sponsor for the next two-and-a-half years, until the 2027 ODI World Cup in October-November.”
