Rams Announce Important Roster Decision for Week 10 Matchup vs. 49ers

The Los Angeles Rams are playing like one of the best teams in football this season. With a 6-2 record, they find themselves tied for first in the NFC West with the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams have received elite play from quarterback Matthew Stafford this season, which has enabled them to remain consistent each week. One thing about the Rams is that they consistently seek ways to improve. That is why they made a change at the kicker position.

Rams Make Kicker Change Heading into Week 10

Joshua Karty has been the Rams’ kicker for the first eight games of the season, but he has not performed at an adequate level. He has attempted 15 field goals this season and has made only 10, while making 23 of 26 extra points.

According to Adam Schefter, Karty has missed more field goals and extra point attempts than any kicker in the league. That is the reason why the Rams will go with Harrison Mevis as their kicker this week.

Mevis was signed to the Rams’ practice squad earlier in the week, and he earned the starting job during the week of practice. Mevis has never kicked in an NFL game, so the upcoming game will mark his debut.

The Rams kicker Sunday vs. the 49ers will be Harrison Mevis. Joshua Karty has been the Rams kicker but he has missed more field goal and extra point attempts this season than any kicker in the league.

Mevis is known as the “thiccer kicker” for his unusual weight for the position. Mevis stands at 5’11” and weighs 243 pounds. It will be interesting to see what he can do for the Rams in a massive division game vs. the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Rams Hoping Special Teams Can Give Them an Edge

To be one of the best teams in the NFL and a Super Bowl contender, you need every unit on the team to do its part. The Rams hope improved special teams will give them an edge over the rest of their conference.

LA already had a game this season where the kicking game cost them. It was against the Philadelphia Eagles when the Eagles blocked two kicks, including one that would have won the game for the Rams.

Most people overlook the importance of a great kicker, but they can play a crucial role in determining the game’s outcome. It will be interesting to see if Mevis can be an improvement at kicker and help the Rams win games.
