Rapido has rapidly gained ground on its rivals and now commands nearly half of India’s overall ride-hailing market across various vehicle categories
Ride-hailing firm Rapido is piloting a transparency feature that shows users how many riders have rejected a trip request. The feature is being tested in select cities, with businessline observing that the pilot has gone live in Bengaluru.
The move comes as the Bengaluru-based startup pushes deeper into four-wheeler cab services. Rapido has rapidly gained ground on its rivals and now commands nearly half of India’s overall ride-hailing market across various vehicle categories. Although its dominance remains strongest in bike taxis and autos, it continues to trail incumbents in certain cab segments.
The feature rollout follows Rapido’s broader diversification beyond core mobility. The company has expanded into metro ticketing as well as flight and hotel bookings, partnering with Goibibo for flights and hotels, redBus for inter-city bus bookings, and ConfirmTkt for train ticketing. This also builds on mobility platforms’ recent experimentation with advance tipping.
businessline sent a detailed questionnaire to Rapido seeking comments on the pilot, but the company did not respond at the time of publishing. This is a developing story.
