Gaming peripheral brand Razer has announced the launch of an AI ‘centre of excellence’ in Singapore, which will support the development of AI gaming technology.
It is the first of three AI global hubs planned as part of Razer’s expansion, with future centres arriving in both Europe and the USA.
The centre is supported by Digital Industry Singapore, the combined efforts of the Singapore Economic Development Board, EnterpriseSG and the Infocomm Media Development Authority. According to the blog post published online, the two parties plan to hire 150 AI specialists locally, in areas such as engineering, data science, and game development.
“Razer’s global AI centres of excellence are a strategic investment in AI gaming,” commented Li-Meng Lee, Chief Strategy Officer at Razer.
“By advancing research, talent, and product innovation, we aim to lead the future of gaming. Our Singapore centre will be a key driver of this mission, alongside our hubs in Europe and the USA.”
Razer also highlights some of the outside factors that drove the brand to construct the AI Centre of Excellence. It explains how the gaming industry is projected to reach $400bn in value by 2033, according to Straits Research. Furthermore, it shares how AI gaming is expected to reach $28bn within the same time frame, increasing with a compound annual rate of 24.8%, according to Market.US.
“Razer’s launch of their AI centre of excellence highlights Singapore’s appeal as a location for AI development within digitally advanced sectors”, said Philbert Gomez, Executive Director and Head, Digital Industry Singapore.
“Razer’s innovation in AI-powered gaming solutions will also present opportunities for talent to build flagship AI gaming products from Singapore, strengthening our position as an AI innovation hub for the region.”
Razer’s Esports Push in 2025
Razer has made huge strides within the esports scene through partnerships and sponsored events this year.
It is teamed up with well-known esports organisations like Sentinels to release themed peripherals, such as the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro. Back in February, it also celebrated its 10-year anniversary with League of Legends icon Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok through the release of a special edition Viper V3 Pro mouse.
Back in June, Razer entered a multi-year partnership with 100 Thieves as its official headset, controller and chair partner for various esports titles. It was also featured at the organisation’s annual Summer Block Party as one of its sponsors.
Razer has also made ventures into AI technology in the past, where it announced its AI esports coaching programme called Project AVA at CES 2025.
