Red Fort blast: NIA produces suicide bomber’s ‘co-conspirator’ in Delhi court

General

Delhi’s special Patiala Court on Tuesday remanded Jasir Bilal, an “active co-conspirator” of the deadly Red Fort blast to 10 days in custody.

The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday had produced Bilal before the Delhi court‘s Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna for his remand hearing.

Bilal, a resident of Qazigund in Anantnag, was arrested in Srinagar on Monday for allegedly offering technical expertise to aid terror attacks, including modifying drones and attempting to fabricate rockets in the lead-up to the explosion, the agency said in a statement.

The NIA, in its statement, said Bilal worked closely with Umar un Nabi—identified as the alleged suicide bomber—to prepare for the “terror carnage,” portraying him as a key operational link in the conspiracy.

The order comes a day after the court sent another accused in the blast, Amir Rashid Ali, to 10 days in the central probe agency’s custody. According to probe findings, Ali was responsible for arranging a safe house for Nabi as well as providing logistical support for the attack.

The NIA arrested Ali on Sunday from the national capital.

The ongoing investigations spreads across multiple security agencies including the Delhi Police, J&K Police, Haryana Police, UP Police and other agencies sharing intelligence.
