  1. I don’t find it unusual that (almost) everyone at RPGamer adores Pokemon Sword/Shield, yet it official site review is 3.5 out of 5. Mediocre, well-polished games can be great fun, especially if the player is predisposed to enjoy the game’s style, genre, or story tropes.

Case in point: I recently had the time of my life playing through Revenant Saga (Kemco alert!); it might be one of my top 20 favorite RPGs of all time. But it’s quite mediocre, very clearly made on a tight budget, and doesn’t really break new ground in story or gameplay… there’s the transformation gimmick in battles, and that’s about it.

  2. There are a few response to the question of the week in the last episodes thread. That’s odd. Well, I’ll just re-post it here:

The World Ends with You is one of my most favorite games ever, and I prefer the two screen gameplay of the original version. Pokemon Black/White is my favorite Pokemon game on the DS, and I’m still not entirely sure if it’s my favorite in the series or Sun/Moon. The original Devil Survivor and Radiant Historia are fantastic, although the 3DS ports are superior.
