Seth Rogen claimed his first Emmy Award Sunday night, September 14, winning best lead actor in a comedy series for his role in AppleTV Plus’s ‘The Studio.’ The Vancouver-born actor stars in the cringe comedy as a Hollywood studio executive managing corporate pressures while pursuing quality filmmaking.

‘The Studio’ matched the record for most comedy Emmy nominations this year with 23 total nominations. The series previously won nine Emmy Awards at the Creative Arts ceremony.

Rogen expressed surprise at his Emmy win during his acceptance speech at the Los Angeles ceremony.

“I still could not wrap my head around this happening, so I’ve literally prepared nothing. I’ve never won anything in my life,” Rogen said Sunday while accepting the award at a star-studded bash in Los Angeles.

“When I was a kid I bought a used bowling trophy at an estate sale, and my parents were like, ‘Yeah, that’s a good idea.'”

The comedy series achieved significant Emmy recognition, tying the record for most nominations in the comedy category with 23 total nominations for the 77th Emmy Awards.

Rogen launched his career in 1999 with the television comedy ‘Freaks and Geeks.’ He subsequently appeared in multiple Judd Apatow-produced films during the mid-2000s, including ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin’ (2005), and ‘Superbad’ (2007), which he co-wrote with Goldberg.
