A passenger train collided with a pick-up van near the SK Para Railway Station in Tripura’s Dhalai district on Thursday, resulting in multiple fatalities, ANI has reported.
Initial visuals from the scene showed the van crushed almost entirely as it lay beside the tracks. Authorities are yet to release the final casualty count.
More details are awaited.
The latest crash comes amid a series of recent railway accidents across the country. Nearly two weeks ago, 11 people died in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur after a goods train rammed into a MEMU local train near the Bilaspur station. Rescue teams had resumed operations at that site to trace missing passengers.
Earlier this month, six people were killed in another accident at Chunar railway station in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district.
