A State-level handloom exhibition will be held at A.M. Mahal, Avalpoondurai Road, Chettipalayam, Erode, from December 30, 2025, to January 12, 2026.
District Collector S. Kandasamy, in a release, said that the exhibition is being organised by the Tamil Nadu Handlooms Department with financial assistance from the Union Ministry of Textiles in connection with Pongal 2026. The exhibition aims to showcase and sell renowned handloom products manufactured by weavers’ cooperative societies from various districts of the State, along with select textile varieties from other States. The expo will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
A wide range of traditional handloom products will be on display, including Chennimalai blankets, bedspreads, curtains and home textiles; Bhavani Jamakkalam (GI-tagged); Kanchipuram, Thirubuvanam, Arani and Salem silk sarees; pure silk dhotis, angavastrams and shirting varieties; Coimbatore Kora cotton sarees, Madurai Sungudi, Tirunelveli Chedi Butta, Paramakudi Pambar cotton, Dindigul tie-and-dye sarees, lungis, as well as silk sarees, dupattas, silk fabrics and printed sarees from other States.
In addition, handicrafts of Khadi and Village Industries Board, products of women self-help groups, and Aavin milk products will also be exhibited. A 30% subsidy provided by the State government will be available on all handloom textiles sold at the exhibition. The inaugural function will be attended by Ministers, MLAs, senior officials of the Handlooms Department and local body representatives. Entry is free, and the Collector has urged the public to make use of the opportunity to purchase handloom and handicraft products.
