Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Live Updates: Equity benchmark indices trimmed early losses as market experts cite the US tariff of 25 per cent as a negotiation strategy more than a decision.
Dr VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited, said, “From the investor perspective, it is important to understand that the 25 per cent tariff will come down after the negotiations which start in mid-August. The 25 per cent tariff imposed on India is far higher than the rates reached in trade deals with other countries. This is the typical Trumpian strategy to get better deals from India in other areas and finally settle at a tariff rate around 20 per cent or less.”

Stock market live updates today: Perspective by Dhaval Ajmera, Director – Corporate Affairs, Ajmera Group, on Home Sales Data for July 2025
The home sales trend in the financial capital during July 2025 has crossed the 12,000 mark after two months, reflecting an uptick in demand on a month-on-month basis, and underlining the onset of festive fervour. The RBI’s empowerment of liquidity flow through rate cuts has led to a boost in buyers’ sentiment, and the effect is already visible. Homebuyers are heavily investing in the mid-segment, with an average ticket size ranging between INR 2 crore and INR 4 crore, while luxury homes are witnessing sustained demand in parallel.
This sentiment is expected to further gain momentum given the dual influence comprising the need for a quality living, along with robust infra-connectivity boost across the
city, making travel time shorter and ultimately opening up new demand potential across micro-markets while strengthening the existing ones.

Stock market live updates today: Narender Singh, Smallcase Manager & founder GrowthInvesting, on the markets after the US tariff announcement
The 25% tariff hike by the U.S., along with possible penalties, is a serious setback for several of India’s key export sectors. Textiles, gems and jewellery, auto parts, and seafood—industries that together send billions of dollars’ worth of goods to the U.S.—are suddenly facing a sharp drop in competitiveness. For exporters in places like Surat and Gujarat, this move could mean cancelled orders, margin pressure, and job uncertainty.
Companies linked to Apple’s manufacturing supply chain may also feel the heat, not immediately, but through weakening demand and shifting U.S. sourcing strategies. On the bright side, pharma and energy exports seem safe for now, which offers some cushion.
Overall, this development hits at a time when India was building strong export momentum. It not only affects near-term earnings and investment plans for many mid-cap exporters, but also raises fresh questions about our long-term trade strategy. The market reaction has already turned cautious, and unless there’s a policy response or a rollback, the pain could deepen in the coming quarters.

Stock market live updates today: DBS Foundation partners with The/Nudge Institute; commits SGD 9.98 million over four years
•The DBS Foundation x The/Nudge Institute Economic Inclusion Programme seeks to empower 85,000 low-income households by providing financial literacy and skills training, creating clear pathways to sustainable livelihoods
•This partnership aligns with DBS Foundation’s focus on fostering inclusion for underserved communities
India, 31st July 2025 – DBS Foundation has partnered with The/Nudge Institute and committed SGD 9.98 million (₹65.56 crore) over four years. Through the DBS Foundation x The/Nudge Institute’s Economic Inclusion Programme, it aims to provide alternative, dignified, comprehensive, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for underserved households.
This partnership will support The/Nudge Institute in enabling the economic inclusion of approximately 85,000 low-income households in Gujarat and Jharkhand, in line with its goal of supporting greater financial stability. It aligns with DBS Foundation’s commitment to uplifting the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable communities. Guided by its dual focus of providing essential needs and fostering inclusion, DBS Foundation equips the underserved with access to the likes of food, education, healthcare, as well as the skills needed to thrive.
The Economic Inclusion Programme empowers women from remote, disadvantaged rural communities to drive long-term well-being for their families. It focuses on those with annual incomes below SGD 400, no assets or savings, and limited access to loans. Using an evidence-based graduation approach, the programme adopts a structured intervention comprising consumption and livelihood grants, along with a 150-week skill-building initiative. It addresses key challenges faced by the women and their households, such as irregular earnings, nutritional deficiencies, lack of access to formal credit, and exclusion rooted in gender norms.
Karen Ngui, Head, DBS Foundation and DBS Group Strategic Marketing and Communications, said, “At the DBS Foundation, we’re committed to uplifting vulnerable communities and helping them move towards brighter, more sustainable futures. Beyond meeting essential needs, this programme by The/Nudge Institute will also focus on closing critical gaps such as financial literacy, thereby empowering beneficiaries to build resilience and long-term stability. We’re proud to partner with The/Nudge Institute to drive inclusive and lasting growth.”
Atul Satija, CEO and Founder, The/Nudge Institute, added, “Through this partnership with the DBS Foundation, we aim to enable skilling and foster a culture of self-reliance. By empowering underserved communities, especially women in rural areas, the goal is to create a replicable economic mobility model. This programme is a step towards achieving a more inclusive society, where opportunity is accessible to all.”
The DBS Foundation x The/Nudge Institute Economic Inclusion Programme supports women through household-level livelihood planning, enabling them to pursue at least two steady income streams. Skill development will be provided in agriculture—such as vegetable cultivation and kitchen gardening—livestock-based activities including dairy farming, goat rearing, and poultry farming, and micro-enterprises such as tailoring, running provision stores, and traditional crafts like handwoven products, bamboo and cane work, and earthenware pottery. Beneficiaries will also gain access to formal services such as microfinance and government welfare schemes.
A key pillar of the initiative is financial and digital literacy—enabling participants to navigate banking systems, develop savings habits, access anti-scam education, and build familiarity with emerging digital tools. The programme focuses on helping households cope better with daily stressors, access nutrition, and strengthen self-esteem through community-led interventions. Over time, the programme aims for households to diversify income, increase earnings and savings, ensure access to at least two nutritious meals daily, and participate in social welfare schemes. It also promotes greater independence for women, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to their families and lead development initiatives in their communities.
This partnership with The/Nudge Institute is one of several impactful initiatives supported by DBS Foundation as it deepens its efforts to drive inclusive growth. In 2024 alone, DBS Foundation committed SGD 88 million to launch 15 new programmes across its key markets, helping vulnerable communities to progress towards a more secure and sustainable future. This is part of DBS’ broader commitment of up to SGD 1 billion over a decade to this purpose, starting 2024.
In India, DBS Foundation has also partnered with Haqdarshak Empowerment Solutions to improve access to social security for 500,000 individuals — empowering them with critical knowledge of welfare entitlements and building pathways to financial inclusion for over 50,000 nano-entrepreneurs.

Stock market live updates today: Perspective by Amit Jain, Chairman & Managing Director, Arkade Developers Limited, on Mumbai home sales for July 2025
“Mumbai’s real estate market continues to demonstrate consistent growth, as reflected in the month-on-month increase in property registrations—from 11,598 in June to 11,994 in July 2025, marking a 3.4% rise. This upward trajectory is further reinforced by a corresponding increase in stamp duty collections, which grew from ₹1,035 crore to ₹1,068 crore, indicating robust buyer confidence and rising transaction values. The recent rate cuts by the RBI have enhanced affordability and positively influenced homebuyer sentiment, particularly in the mid and premium housing segments. As we head into the festive quarter, we expect this momentum to persist, driven by innovative flexible home ownership payment plans and buyer-centric offerings from developers that align with evolving consumer expectations.”

Brigade Hotel Ventures Ltd. made a below‑par debut on the stock market with a listing of approximately -9.89% over its issue price of ₹90, getting listed at around ₹81.10. Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited is the owner and developer of hotels in key cities in India, primarily across South India. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BEL, which is one of the leading Indian real estate developers in India. Brigade Hotel Ventures’ IPO enjoyed robust investor interest in the retail and institutional categories, though sentiment cooled significantly before listing, resulting in a below‑par debut. The lack of a listing premium despite initial GMP optimism reflects mixed confidence in short‑term growth and sector headwinds. However, the company’s strategic parentage, asset footprint, occupancy strengths, and hotel partnerships could support medium‑ to long‑term value appreciation. High risk Investors are recommended to hold the issue for medium to long term

Stock market live updates today: Perspective on Indian Markets post US Tariff Announcement by Jyoti Prakash, Managing Partner, Equity and PMS at AlphaaMoney
“Obviously, a ten-fold rise in tariffs will be a drag on growth, to the extent of 20-30 bps. But, it would be a mistake to extrapolate the announced tariffs to eternity. We expect a trade deal in the next 6 months leading to reductions in rate of tariffs, maybe in the region of 15%. Meanwhile, do expect small cut to EPS estimates of major indices as the correlation of GDP growth and corporate profitability is highest for India vs. peers.”

Stock market live updates today: Brazil’s central bank to pause its monetary tightening cycle, maintaining the benchmark Selic interest rate at 15%
Brazil’s central bank has decided to pause its monetary tightening cycle, maintaining the benchmark Selic interest rate at 15% after seven consecutive hikes totalling 450 basis points since September 2024. This decision, made unanimously by the bank’s rate-setting committee (Copom), aims to assess the effects of prior rate increases on inflation, which remains above the 3% target at 5.3% as of mid-July 2025. The pause comes amid concerns over economic stability and potential US tariffs, with the central bank emphasizing a data-dependent approach to evaluate whether the current rate level, if sustained for a prolonged period, will bring inflation back to the target. The article also notes that this decision was made shortly after US President Donald Trump delayed implementing tariffs, which could have impacted Brazil’s economy.

Microsoft’s market cap exceeded $4 trillion in after-hours trading on July 30, 2025, following a strong quarterly earnings report, joining Nvidia as the only other company to reach this milestone. Shares surged over 9% after the report, driven by 18% revenue growth to $76.4 billion, surpassing Wall Street’s $73.89 billion estimate, and earnings of $3.65 per share, beating the $3.37 forecast. Azure cloud revenue, disclosed in dollars for the first time, hit over $75 billion in fiscal 2025, up 34% year-over-year, with 39% growth in Q2. If the rally holds, Microsoft will solidify its position as the second $4 trillion company, outpacing Apple’s $3.1 trillion. Both Microsoft and Nvidia have benefited from the AI boom, with Microsoft’s cloud and AI strategy under CEO Satya Nadella fuelling investor confidence.

Shareholders of Reliance Industries Ltd have approved the appointment of Anant Ambani as a director for a five-year term, effective May 1, 2025, as per a resolution passed at the company’s annual general meeting. Anant, the youngest son of Chairman Mukesh Ambani, is tasked with leading the conglomerate’s energy businesses, particularly its ambitious new energy initiatives targeting net-zero carbon emissions by 2035.
