A reasonably priced affair

The Mafia series makes its grand return this week in the form of Mafia: The Old Country; Hangar 13’s upcoming prequel that takes us back to 1900s Sicily. Publisher 2K has made a bold decision to price this one at just $50 at launch — including for Xbox Series X|S — which leaves us with one question. Is the game’s cut-price temping you to pick this one up on day one?
Video games going up to $70, even $80 has been a tough pill to swallow for some, and we’d certainly welcome a broader range of pricing in the AAA market. It seems as though 2K has factored in the price point when greenlighting and building Mafia: The Old Country’s linear, less big-budget experience – which looks like a good way to go by us. Not everything has to be the next GTA, especially for 2K!
If we didn’t have so much to go at on Xbox Game Pass, and other bits and pieces to play for work purposes, we’d definitely be pretty tempted to pick up The Old Country at $50. Mafia: Definitive Edition was a fantastic remake that looked gorgeous to boot – and we have no doubt that Hangar 13 will deliver another compelling third-person adventure with its upcoming prequel. It’s out on August 8th as well – a lovely summer release here on Xbox!
So, would you be getting Mafia: The Old Country anyway? Is this new, $50 price tag tempting you even more? Give us a pick in the poll down below and let us know your weekend Mafia plans in the comments section underneath.
