The Tamil Nadu government plans to develop a biotech industrial park in Chengalpattu, about 60 km south of Chennai. The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) has issued a Request for Proposal tender to engage a consultant for the Preparation of the Master Plan and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project.
Tamil Nadu is already home to a vibrant base of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare companies, supported by strong academic institutions and a skilled talent pool. In line with this vision, TIDCO proposes to develop a Biotech Industrial Park as an integrated hub for advanced manufacturing, contract development & manufacturing (CDMO/CMO) facilities, research collaboration, and sector-specific Industrial clusters in domains such as pharma-biotech, vaccines, biologics, biosimilars, industrial biotech, agricultural biotech, marine biotech, and allied life sciences sectors, the tender said.
The park will provide Good Manufacturing Practice-compliant industrial plots, modular manufacturing units, pilot-scale facilities, bio-incubation and testing centres, common utilities, and biotech-specific infrastructure to attract biotechnology manufacturing companies, ancillary industries, R&D centres, and start-ups, the tender said.
