The chaos of professional tennis rarely gets funnier than when Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, decides to add her own commentary. During Fritz’s second-round match at the National Bank Open in Toronto, Riddle captured a changeover scene so absurd that she compared it to the bizarre dreams that hit after taking melatonin. What started as routine courtside support turned into viral social media gold.
How Did Morgan Riddle Turn Tennis Chaos Into Comedy Gold?
Riddle, known for offering a fun, behind-the-scenes look into the life of a top tennis pro, is currently in Toronto supporting Fritz during the ATP Masters 1000 event. The American tennis star, seeded second at the tournament, faced Spain’s Roberto Carballés Baena and came through a tightly contested match, winning 7-5, 7-6(1) to secure a spot in the third round.

But the real entertainment came during the changeover break. In a video shared on her Instagram Story, Riddle captured what looked more like a comedy sketch than a serious sporting event. Fritz was mid-outfit change while ball kids scrambled around the court, frantically wiping down the lines with towels. The simultaneous chaos of multiple activities happening at once prompted Riddle to caption the video: “my dreams when i take melatonin:”
Fritz advanced to the third round, where he will take on 27th seed Gabriel Diallo in a rematch of their Wimbledon second round, where the American won in five sets. The winner of this match will face either 15th seed Arthur Fils or 19th seed Jiri Lehecka in the fourth round.
How Does Riddle Handle Critics Who Say She Profits Off Fritz’s Career?
Beyond the lighthearted social media moments, Riddle has faced more serious conversations about her role in Fritz’s career. She openly admitted she benefits from Fritz’s success but stressed that their relationship is rooted in mutual support and shared goals. Since meeting on a dating app in 2020, they’ve become one of tennis’s most recognizable couples.
In a May 2025 episode of Olivia Molly Rogers’ Tell Me More podcast, Riddle discussed the challenges of being a tennis WAG and her shift from corporate life to full-time travel with Fritz. Rather than dodging criticism about capitalizing on Fritz’s fame, she addressed it with refreshing honesty.
“In terms of like my career and everything that I’m doing, he’s [Taylor Fritz] always been so supportive of it. He’s always said like, ‘I want to be a dual-income household.’ So I’m like, ‘All right, baby, let’s be a dual-income household. Here we go,’” she said.
When faced with pushback from traditional tennis circles, Riddle stood firm in her approach and goals.
“People say that I am capitalizing off of his career. And I’m like, ‘Yep, you know what? I am.’ And he’s okay with that. And I’m okay with that because, you know, it’s a partnership,” she added.
Her strategy for dealing with criticism is equally direct. “Well like I said I block a lot of people. That’s not my intended audience. I always went into this like, ‘I want to bring a younger audience to tennis. I want to get girls involved in tennis.’ So if people don’t like my content, good. Get out of my way. Don’t watch my content. And I’ll let the people who this will actually be interesting to, or entertain, or inform find me.”
