The Washington Commanders have been a team that has been ravaged by injuries all season long. With Jayden Daniels missing time serving as the biggest hurdle, the wide receiver group has also not been healthy throughout the year.
Facing the Kansas City Chiefs in a Week 8 Monday Night Football clash, the team was already without Daniels for the game with a high ankle sprain. However, as they were getting blown out 28-7, they may have suffered another huge blow, this time in the form of Terry McLaurin.
What Happened to Terry McLaurin?
After remaining in picture-perfect health to begin his career, the 2025 season was the first time McLaurin missed extended time during the year. Making his return against the Chiefs, he had an excellent night despite the struggles of the offense.
With three catches worth 54 yards, he also had an excellent catch falling out of bounds to register the only touchdown for the Commanders. However, in the fourth quarter, it seemed like he may have reinjured himself.

Missing an entire series, he was on the sidelines, getting his quad checked out. Commanders beat writer Josh Taylor noted on X, “Terry McLaurin is getting his quad looked at again by trainers. That’s why he hasn’t been on the field. Might not see him again tonight.”
With the Chiefs leading by 21 with less than half a quarter remaining in the game, it seemed that Washington was content with keeping McLaurin in the game without risking further injury. The team then confirmed that he was questionable to return.
Ultimately, he did not return in the game, as a late interception by Marcus Mariota put the game on ice for good, with Kansas City walking away with the 28-7 victory. With a quad injury keeping him out of the lineup for four games, the worry for Commanders fans had to be obvious.
After losing three straight games, the team was sitting at 3-5 with legitimate concerns about making the playoffs. However, some good news arrived in the form of an update from the man himself, as Tashan Reed of the Washington Post reported.
“Terry McLaurin said his quad is ‘alright’ but added that he’ll take it ‘day-by-day’. Sounds like his status will be TBD.”
