On Sunday night, the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, will crown a new NCAA championship winner after several years of predictability. Since 2021, the winner of the coveted NCAA title has largely been expected.
This time, however, two relatively new contenders will face each other in the championship match. On one side is Craig Skinner’s Kentucky Wildcats, eager to claim another NCAA title after a five-year gap. On the other is Jamie Morrison’s Texas A&M Aggies, looking to cap a dream run with a historic first NCAA championship.
Texas A&M Volleyball vs. Kentucky Volleyball: NCAA Championships 2025 Finals Preview
The Wildcats enjoyed a smooth run to the semifinals. Their stiffest challenge came from the Wisconsin Badgers, who pushed Kentucky to the limit before the Wildcats prevailed in the decisive set to secure a spot in the final.
Texas A&M’s path, meanwhile, has been nothing short of a fairy tale. The Aggies’ best performance in the past 25 years had been a quarterfinal appearance in 2001. That changed this season. After upsetting the Louisville Cardinals in the round of 16, coach Jamie Morrison set out to rewrite program history.

Morrison inspired his team to pull off the improbable, stunning Big Red, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, in a 3-2 quarterfinal win. They followed that by overwhelming the Pittsburgh Panthers in the semifinals, punching their ticket to a historic final.
Texas A&M vs. Kentucky Prediction
Picking a winner in this year’s NCAA Championship is difficult, as both teams have a legitimate claim to the title. Statistically, Kentucky holds a slight edge over Texas A&M.
Coach Skinner’s squad will be eager to add another NCAA championship to its trophy case after winning the title in 2020. Since then, Kentucky’s best showing came in 2024, when the Wildcats reached the quarterfinals. Experience could be an advantage for Kentucky heading into the final.
Still, it would be unwise to discount Morrison’s Aggies. Since defeating last year’s runner-up Louisville in the round of 16, Texas A&M has shown it is far from a pushover. Nebraska and Pittsburgh learned that lesson firsthand. If a new champion is crowned tonight, it should not come as a surprise.
