Universal’s Epic Universe is packed with thrilling rides and over-the-top eats, but one nostalgic dessert from Super Nintendo World stole the show.
This summer, my family and I set out on a theme park adventure and visited all three Universal Orlando Resort parks—including the brand-new Universal Epic Universe, which opened in May 2025. And while the rides were every bit as exciting as promised (yes, I laughed my way through Donkey Kong’s Mine-Cart Madness), the food was just as memorable.
I’ve always believed that a theme park day is only as good as its snacks. Some people ride for the adrenaline. I ride for dessert.
What is the tiramisu dessert from Toadstool Cafe?
Michelle Black for Taste of Home
There were plenty of contenders for the best food at Epic Universe. But one dessert stood out so much that I’ve been thinking about it ever since we got back home: the ? Block Tiramisu from Toadstool Cafe in Super Nintendo World.
This adorable treat is a tiramisu layered with fluffy, coffee-soaked lady fingers and topped with a chocolate power-up and sweet cream. The dessert looked exactly like something Mario or Luigi would pause to snack on mid-adventure. And, honestly, in the middle of a hot summer Florida day, it tasted like a power-up too.
The theme of the Toadstool Cafe is just as delightful as the food it serves. Between immersive screens, the Toad servers in their colorful uniforms and the Super Mario soundtrack, I felt like a ’90s kid living out my childhood dreams. (Because I was.) And while it’s technically a single-serving dessert, the portion size was perfect for sharing. Myself, my preschooler and two teens ate the tiramisu together and, after a large meal, it was just enough sweetness to enjoy without feeling stuffed. Besides, we had to save room for all the other treats throughout the day!
The ? Block Tiramisu Price and Taste
The price of the ? Block Tiramisu was $9.99. That’s a bit of a splurge compared to my normal dining budget. But for theme park food—especially at a location as charming as the Toadstool Cafe—the price felt like it was worth it.
We also kept our vacation food budget in check in other ways. The kids and I shared snacks, ate breakfast before arriving at the parks, packed road trip snacks and brought refillable water bottles. Those efforts made it easier to justify the indulgences we did choose to make.
Beyond the nostalgia of the Toadstool Cafe and the cute design of the ? Block Tiramisu, the dessert itself was remarkable. The flavor was rich, the texture was creamy, and it wasn’t too sweet. Despite the cartoonish design, the taste reminded me of a classic dessert you might order at a sit-down restaurant, not something to grab in between theme park rides.
Between the flavor, presentation and the nostalgia factor, the ? Block Tiramisu has officially joined my list of Universal Epic Universe must-haves—right alongside an icy, frozen Butterbeer.
