Tom Aspinall suggests unorthodox way he could finally fight Francis Ngannou without Dana White

Tom Aspinall has claimed that it may take a move into a different sport for him to finally fight Francis Ngannou.

The heavyweight showdown was never on the cards during Ngannou’s initial UFC run as the Brit was only rising through the ranks at the time. But now as two of the champions of the division, there is keen interest in seeing the two massive punchers compete.

However, Ngannou is far from Dana White’s list of fighters he wants back and the likelihood of Aspinall making a PFL appearance are next to zero. As a result, they might have to fight out both of their respective deals to fight in a boxing match.

Tom Aspinall is realistic about boxing ambitions after UFC run

Tom Aspinall recently appeared in a video on his YouTube channel with old friend and training partner Tommy Fury, where they discussed potential big fights. The pair used to train together during the heavyweight champion’s brief foray into boxing, and Fury believes he was talented in the ring.

Aspinall admitted that he couldn’t pursue major title ambitions at his age, but they did discuss potential money fights that he could take in boxing. “I couldn’t try to be a world champion,” the Brit admitted. “I don’t know.

“You need to dedicate your whole life to becoming a world champion, but I’ve spent my whole life doing MMA now haven’t I? For me to be 33 and then think I’m going to win a world title in boxing is unrealistic.”

What was Francis Ngannou’s most impressive UFC performance?

‘The Predator’ knocked out Stipe Miocic, Cain Velasquez, Curtis Blaydes, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and more during his stint in the Octagon.

Tom Aspinall wants to fight Francis Ngannou in boxing ‘freak show’ fight

Instead of facing legitimate boxers, Aspinall believes that the way to go is taking on stars from the MMA cage who want to make the switch to the ring.

“I reckon I could have a couple of, like, not freak show fights but big fights, you know what I mean?” He continued. “A big name or something… I wouldn’t mind boxing an MMA fighter.”

When Fury suggested that he fight Ngannou inside the ring, Aspinall replied “I think that would be good, I like it.” However, he noted that he has multiple fights left to worry about in the UFC before he thinks about boxing.

Ngannou is signed to the PFL, but has famously negotiated a deal that allows him to take high profile boxing matches. And he has earned millions fighting heavyweight champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia.
