Jacksonville Jaguars rookie wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter had a decent debut and was in line for more snaps on defense in the Jaguars’ Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. What Happened to Jacksonville Jaguars Rookie Travis Hunter?

Hunter was seen limping on the sidelines late in the second quarter of the Jaguars’ Week 2 matchup against the Bengals. While the rookie, who’s getting more snaps on defense this week, might be a bit banged up, it seems he will be okay to go.

#Jaguars CB Jarrian Jones is back on the field.

Travis Hunter was limping a bit before the 3rd down, jogged up and down the sideline, then got looked at by trainers before re-joining the sideline.

Seems OK, but something to keep in mind.

Thankfully, it seems that the rookie will continue to go against the Bengals. In his upped snaps, Hunter has already made a few impact plays, breaking up some passes from Bengals QB Joe Burrow.

With Burrow in the locker room with a toe injury and questionable to return, Hunter and the Jaguars’ offense have an opportunity to take advantage of an undermanned Cincinnati offense with Jake Browning taking over under center for the Bengals. They’ve already snagged one turnover as safety Eric Murray intercepted a pass intended for WR Andrei Iosivas.

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence targeted Hunter eight times in Jacksonville’s Week 1 win over the Carolina Panthers. The rookie caught six of those passes for 33 yards. This was a modest debut but promising as the rookie becomes a bigger presence in both Liam Coen’s offense and the secondary.

He continues to be in the right place at the right time, and as he gets more reps, his traits and playmaking will start to make more of an impact. It’s good to see the limping was not a sign of something more serious. However, with him playing on both sides of the ball, he will have more opportunities to sustain hits and get injured. The Jaguars will have to find ways to manage the long-term damage to his body to preserve the length of his career.

For the time being, let’s see what the rookie can do in the rest of the Week 2 matchup against the Bengals. With the Bengals’ offensive concerns increasing, the number of turnover-worthy plays will increase.
