The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has donated 20 hand-held breath analysing machines to the Tirupati police in a bid to control drunken driving menace and enhance the safety of visiting pilgrims.

TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal formally handed over the breath analysers to Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu and the team of traffic police at his chambers on Sunday.

After learning from the police the functioning of breath analysers, Mr. Singhal called it an effective intervention in preventing road accidents and ensuring adherence to traffic rules.

Mr. Subbarayudu informed that four each out of the 20 gadgets would be used in Tirumala and Alipiri police limits, which were generally thronged by visiting pilgrims, while the remaining 12 would be used in other parts of Tirupati.

TTD Chief Vigilance and Security Officer K.V. Muralikrishna, Additional Superintendent of Police Ravi Manoharachary, Deputy Superintendents K. Ramakrishnachary (Traffic) and Chandrasekhar (Armed Reserve) took part.
