Undefeated Power Slap star reveals how she avoids suffering long-term damage ahead of MMA switch

One of Power Slap’s top competitors is looking to leave the sport in the near future.

Dana White is seemingly hoping to attract some big talent to join the promotion’s roster in order to continue growing the talent pool.

There’s no denying that the format is attention-grabbing, specifically when it comes to social media clips of the highlights from events.

However, many have raised concerns about the health risks of competing in Power Slap due to the inability to defend yourself from taking damage.

One competitor revealed how she takes measures into her own hands in order to ensure that she can continue competing in combat sports for years to come.

Sheena Bathory takes precautions to avoid long-term Power Slap damage

Sheena Bathory already has plans for her next target along with continuing the momentum that she has built up in Power Slap.

Also known as Franciska Szabo, the undefeated competitor recently signed to MMA promotion Brave CF, where Muhammad Mokaev won the flyweight title last Friday.

On the same night, at Brave 100 in Bahrain, Bathory spoke to Bloody Elbow in an exclusive interview about her plans for the near future.

“Currently I’m looking for a title fight in Power Slap, I already called out another great fighter and I think we can go for a title fight and after, I think if I’m going to end up at 6-0 with a title in my pocket, I think I’ll be ready to say goodbye to Power Slap and just focus on my MMA career.”

Bathory also spoke on how she tries to limit the long-term effects of competing in Power Slap ahead of her upcoming transition to MMA.

‘The Hungarian Hurricane’ is well aware that she needs to give her body a lot of time to recover in between bouts to avoid suffering any lasting damage that could impact her other pursuits.

“In Power Slap, definitely the impact is more on the brain. That’s why I told Power Slap that I want to it do no more than once every half year because I want to take a rest for my brain. In MMA, I also get a couple of shots but you also still get a chance to defend so the impact is not as heavy as in Power Slap. I still love it though but I’m planning to compete in sports long-term so I need to hold myself back sometimes.”

Sheena Bathory has ticked off a lot of boxes in Power Slap

While Sheena Bathory is still hoping to compete for a title in Power Slap, she already feels like she’s done a lot of what the sport has to offer.

Becoming a champion would therefore be the final box to tick off before she changes course and puts her full attention into MMA and Brave CF.

Bathory told Bloody Elbow about how while she’s undefeated in Power Slap, she’s also been on the wrong end of a devastating knockout that was overturned.

“I’ve experienced everything in Power Slap because I’ve knocked people out and even though I have a 5-0 record, I also got knocked out but my opponent got disqualified because she clubbed my neck. I’ve experienced how it feels to be knocked out but it put me on a different level because I never want to get f—— knocked out again.”
