Disaster struck as social media star and street fighter ‘Winged C’ was brutally knocked down and submitted in his APFC debut.
The comical fighting prospect is best known for his bouts on Streetbeefs, where he comes to the ring wearing angel wings and competes in a bizarre style. But he has been on quite the run of results in his amateur kickboxing and MMA careers, earning a slot on Anthony Pettis APFC.
Fighting under his real name Malcolm Schuyler as well as the ‘Winged C’ moniker, the Pennsylvania native had put together an eight-fight winning run across disciplines after losing his debut. But he had a baptism of fire in Albuquerque against the unbeaten bantamweight prospect Austin Haverkamp.
Winged C is viciously dropped and submitted at APFC 21
From the get-go, fans were excited to see ‘Winged C’ as he was placed in the prestigious spot of prelim main event for the amateur section of APFC’s event. The fight was broadcast on YouTube, and quickly went viral across social media with hundreds of thousands of views.
Schuyler made his ring walk in outlandish style as always, vaulting his way over the gate and into the cage. And once the bell went, he was all out on offense, throwing spinning kicks and even landing some decent shots as his mentor Demetrious Johnson watched on.
Haverkamp’s experience as a teammate of multiple UFC veterans – one of whose jumpers he wore on his ring walk – meant that he was able to stay composed and overcome even a brief slip. And unfortunately for viewers, when ‘Winged C’ dipped his head he was blasted with a head kick.
From there, Haverkamp immediately jumped for the guillotine, which he locked in with ease forcing ‘Winged C’ to submit. And in an act of poor sportsmanship, the influencer pushed his opponent away as he attempted to give him a supportive hug following the result.
