It wasn’t necessarily the greatest week of football in the NFL with 12 of the 13 games finishing with double-digit margins in Week 8.
However, the week did have an impact across the league in terms of the standings. As we approach the midway point of the NFL season, here is a look at the Week 9 NFL standings.

<p>For the first time all year, it was a great week across the board for the AFC East. All four teams earned wins this past weekend, including the New York Jets getting their first win of the year and the Miami Dolphins looking dominant against the Atlanta Falcons. This is still a race between the Patriots and Bills, though, and Buffalo needs to find a way to get a win over Kanas City as the Patriots host the Falcons.</p>
<h4>AFC North</h4>

<li>Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3)</li>
<li>Cincinnati Bengals (3-5)</li>
<li>Baltimore Ravens (2-5)</li>
<li>Cleveland Browns (2-6)</li>

<p>It turns out that Cincinnati’s loss to the Jets really hurt them this weekend. The Bengals had a chance to gain ground on the Pittsburgh Steelers, who lost to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, and instead, the Baltimore Ravens moved to within half a game of second place in the division by beating the Chicago Bears. Now, Lamar Jackson is set to return for the Ravens, which throws a massive wrinkle into this division that is quickly becoming a three-team race.</p>
<h4>AFC South</h4>

<li>Indianapolis Colts (7-1)</li>
<li>Jacksonville Jaguars (4-3)</li>
<li>Houston Texans (3-4)</li>
<li>Tennessee Titans (1-7)</li>
</ol>
<p>The Indianapolis Colts just continue to cruise right along, and they have really solid chances to keep it going into their bye week with matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons over the next two weeks. Meanwhile, Jacksonville and Houston are fighting to maintain pace with the Jaguars returning from a bye this weekend, and the Texans coming off an impressive win against the San Francisco 49ers.</p>
<h4>AFC West</h4>

<li>Denver Broncos (6-2)</li>
<li>Kansas City Chiefs (5-3)</li>
<li>Los Angeles Chargers (5-3)</li>
<li>Las Vegas Raiders (2-5)</li>
</ol>
<p>Nobody is giving up ground in this three-way AFC West race. All three of the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, and Los Angeles Chargers earned blowout wins this past weekend, and while only one of the teams will make the playoffs, all three are giving themselves strong positioning for a playoff push later this season.</p>
<h4>NFC East</h4>

<li>Philadelphia Eagles (6-2)</li>
<li>Dallas Cowboys (3-4-1)</li>
<li>Washington Commanders (3-5)</li>
<li>New York Giants (2-6)</li>
</ol>
<p>The Philadelphia Eagles weren’t about to let the New York Giants sweep the season series against them this year as they put together a wire-to-wire victory against New York this past weekend. That victory ensured they would gain a game on both the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders as each of them lost this weekend.</p>
<h4>NFC North</h4>

<li>Green Bay Packers (5-1-1)</li>
<li>Detroit Lions (5-2)</li>
<li>Chicago Bears (4-3)</li>
<li>Minnesota Vikings (3-4)</li>
</ol>
<p>The Green Bay Packers showed once again why they should be taken very seriously in the NFC with a primetime victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend on Sunday night. While the Detroit Lions rested on their bye week, the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings each lost this weekend. Week 9 could either solidify Detroit and Green Bay at the top of the division or throw chaos into the race as <a href=)
the Lions and Vikings meet at Ford Field on Sunday.
NFC South
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-2)
- Carolina Panthers (4-4)
- Atlanta Falcons (3-4)
- New Orleans Saints (1-7)
As expected, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers increased their lead in the NFC South with a win over the New Orleans Saints while the Carolina Panthers fell to the Buffalo Bills without Bryce Young at quarterback. The Atlanta Falcons also looked very bad on Sunday with a loss to the Miami Dolphins. As we near the halfway point, this feels like Tampa Bay’s division to lose.
NFC West
- Los Angeles Rams (5-2)
- Seattle Seahawks (5-2)
- San Francisco 49ers (5-3)
- Arizona Cardinals (2-5)
With both the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks on their bye weeks, the San Francisco 49ers had a chance to take sole possession of the NFC West lead with a win over the Houston Texans. Instead, they lost and now sit in third place. All four teams will be back in action this weekend, and each of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle are favored in their matchups. It seems like we could get more chaos before we see any resolution.
