Kevin Owens is currently on a hiatus, recovering from some health injuries. Back in April of this year he announced that he would be taking some time off, or more like, was being forced to take some time off wrestling, to get some medical procedures done.

He recently had his surgery and is currently in recovery after taking some time off. But is not completely gone from the scene, as Owens recently opened for an independent wrestling show.

Kevin Owens himself was a part of the independent wrestling circuit for years, before he joined the WWE. Owens, whose real name is Kevin Steen, thus showed up recently for the indie wrestling promotion, Green Mountain Wrestling, via a special video message from his home.

He congratulated the promotion on its first-ever champion, but was also regretful at not being there personally to crown them.

Owens also said that he had been following the promotion for a while, and was excited to see how much they are growing. For such a relatively new promotion, getting the backing from someone like Owens, which in turn means WWE is there in the picture too, is a big deal. At the event, “Moonlight Son” Mike Skyros was the one to be crowned as the first-ever GMW Champion.

He announced his hiatus in April, but the surgery happened 3 months later, in July, which thankfully was a success.

While he hopes to be back in the ring before next year is out, it depends on how well he recovers by then to have any confirmation. Also Read: Joe Rogan fiercely calls on Dana White to protect fighters with new UFC rules
