Tech billionaire Elon Musk once again referred to his estranged transgender daughter’s transition as a “tragic mental illness” caused by “the evil woke mind virus”, in response to a jibe by California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office.
This remark came after Newsom told a podcaster that he wanted to see more transgender students, highlighted pro-trans legislation under his tenure and advocating himself as a strong supporter of LGBTQ rights.

In response to the video shared by Elon Musk’s Public Action Committee (PAC) on X, Newsom’s office said, “Correct. We’re sorry your daughter hates you, Elon.”
In response, Musk said, “I assume you’re referring to my son, Xavier, who has a tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus you push on vulnerable children. I love Xavier very much and hope he recovers. My daughters are Azure, Exa (she goes by Y) and Arcadia, and they do indeed love me very much.”

Musk’s response marked yet another chapter in his bitter feud with Vivian Jenna Wilson, who legally changed her name and gender in 2022, stating she no longer wished to be associated with her father. She came out as transgender at 16, and her journey has been widely reported, particularly given Musk’s public comments.
Musk has repeatedly referred to his daughter using her birth name and described her transition as the work of a “woke mind virus.” The Tesla CEO had previously accused Wilson of adopting extreme ideologies, saying, “She went beyond socialism to being a full communist and thinking that anyone rich is evil.”
On the other hand, Wilson had described Musk as a cold and narcissistic father, claiming he was an absent parent who did not support her transition. She claimed that the billionaire harassed her as a young child over her effeminate traits.
